Getting the most out of your Mustang with Mustang parts

Monday, January 23, 2012 Posted by Zyon

They are possibly the single most beautiful automobiles created on this planet. The Mustang symbolizes everything that makes cars enjoyable. They are sleek and yet powerful, they are classic yet forever contemporary. Despite the fact that it seems as though there will never be anything that could change its beauty, there are still those who like to build on that initial exquisite machine and craft it into something more personalized. This can be achieved by using Mustang parts.

There are endless possibilities available for Mustang parts and some of them include changing the exterior, while others focus on the way it performs. One of the most popular of the Mustang parts is the body kit. This is a specially designed set of body parts that are created to give the owner of the vehicle the ability to change the way the car looks. This can be done in a subtle way, such as changing just the front bumper or adding a spoiler. Or you can go to the extremes in completely modifying the way the exterior looks. The sky is truly the limit on the possibilities you can achieve.

There are also other Mustang parts that focus on the interior of the car, such as adding new or alternative dashes and gauges. This can be a great way to personalize your Mustang and give it the look and feel that you have always wanted.

One amazing improvement that can be made using Mustang parts is to add air suspension. This is a system that will replace your internal coil system and give it an updated smooth ride. This luxury feel comes from the computerized control of air bags which replace the stock system. The computer can control each tire individually, making it possible that you can have a remarkably smooth ride, regardless of how rocky the road is. You can also program the system to automatically adjust once your Mustang reaches a particular speed, typically sixty miles per hour. When this happens the air suspension will move the body of the automobile into an aerodynamic stance, giving you less resistance against the wind.

There are a number of other Mustang parts that can benefit you, such as adding in superior lighting. This is done with the help of HID lights. These are bulbs made using xenon gas that burns a bright color able to illuminate a larger distance than any halogen bulb could ever possibly reach.
To add to this, there is the highly popular performance chip, which is a device that essentially hijacks your engine control unit and tells it how you want each onboard system to perform. If you set it properly it is possible to get an amazing amount of additional horsepower and gas mileage. You can also reduce your impact on the environment by changing your vehicle's fuel emissions.

There are endless possibilities to make this car, which was built for perfection, even better and by using Mustang parts you can achieve this with relative ease.

Mustang No More

Tuesday, November 09, 2010 Posted by Zyon

About two weeks ago I made the decision to let the Mustang go. Sitting in the garage all summer was not what I wanted to see my Stang do. However, my interests changed to my bike and I spent all summer riding and wrenching on it. I even stopped updating this blog.

Well, we decided to trade in the Mustang and upgrade the family-mobile to a fully loaded Honda Pilot. I still have my bike and I'll likely keep blogging but I might change up the URL and move everything over to "Blogging about my Bobber" and see how it goes.

New ACM custom build

Tuesday, September 07, 2010 Posted by Zyon

I had the fortune to see this bike in person right before it was completed. In-fact, the day I saw it, the builder was just putting on the rear fender. I love the old-school fat tire in the front and I absolutely love the tank. I wish it had Z bars instead of straight drag bars. It was a bit of a stretch for my back when I sat on it. If anyone out there has been drooling over my bike, check out this new one from American Classic Motors. If I had the money, it would be sitting in my garage right next to mine.

Got the Mustang out this weekend

Monday, September 06, 2010 Posted by Zyon

For the first time in several months, I pulled the Mustang out of the garage. It needed a wash down and it needed to be driven. After a quick wash job I took it out for a spin. I've only driven it twice since I got the bike. It drove nice but a clutch change is on the horizon. I have the stage 2 clutch and flywheel but I just need to take the time to do it.

Saddle bag for rigid a motorcycle

Monday, August 30, 2010 Posted by Zyon

Okay, its been quite a while since I've done anything with any of my blogs. I've been so busy working, riding my bobber and...well, working on my bobber. These things really require a lot of maintenance. I have not had the greatest luck with the Makuni carburator but that's a whole 'nother story.

My quest for a properly running bike lead me to wishing I had a saddle bag but as all rigid bobber owners know, that's not as simple of a wish as it sounds. There are a lot of cheap handlebar bags out there for tool storage but with a springer, I didn't like any of them. So, I was left with a frame mounted bag. I found them everywhere I looked. JP Cycles has a million Leather saddle bags but a bike decked out in leather is not really my thing. Also, they are expensive.

So, that leads me to today. I happened to be at our local K-Mart and in the sporting goods section when I happened by this Bicycle bag designed by Bell- the same company that makes helmets. For $10.00 I picked up a great bag that velcros to my bike frame. It's made of nylon so when it gets dirty, I can simply wash it. The velcro strips are well over 2" long so I have no worries about the bag being ripped off while I'm riding.

Just like leather bags, they can easily be removed by a would-be thief but hey, I'll only be out $10.00 plug a few wrenches and screwdrivers. I also think it looks pretty good on the bike too.

Insurance Sucks!

Thursday, July 08, 2010 Posted by Zyon

The day I picked my bike up I called my current insurance provider, Erie Insurance to get the bike covered before I left the bike shop. The lady on the phone told me I had to come into my local agent and fill out paperwork in person. That wasn't going to happen since I was about 50 miles away and I had rented a U-Haul to pick up the bike. I asked her why we couldn't do it over fax and she said she would go to jail if she did that. I promptly to "get bent" and disconnected the call.

It seems that in Pa, it is not enough to show you have coverage, you have to prove you have the actual bike covered. So, the lady who processed my paperwork hooked me up with Rider Insurance. The guy on the phone was able to get me set up via fax (without going to jail) but he told me that they would not cover choppers or custom built bikes with comprehensive insurance. So, I paid the guy $60.00 over the phone for a month of liability coverage so I could trailer the bike home. However, since I took out a loan for a portion of the bike, I have to have comprehensive insurance.

So, after calling Allstate and Geico, I found out that getting a custom bike fully covered wasn't going to be easy. A relative of a friend told me to call Fischer Specialty Insurance to see what they could do for me. I talked to the agent and had full coverage by the end of the day. However, I found out that full insurance is not cheap. Actually, I'm $1,200 less in the pocket per year to make sure my bike is covered. Ouch! If anyone knows of a better place for a lower price feel free to send me the info.

Been hanging with Psycho Bob

Friday, July 02, 2010 Posted by Zyon

As expected, I have not been paying much attention to the Stang as I've been working on getting comfortable on my bike. I've been riding it to work every day for the last week and I'm really comfortable on it now. I've learned a few things this week like, it only gets about 45 miles to the tank. I got to spend about 30 minutes along side the road thinking about that one.

On a Mustang related note, in the second week of July I'm planning on putting the stage two clutch and flywheel into the car. I love my Stang! I do!

Psycho Bob

Monday, June 21, 2010 Posted by Zyon

Does everyone name their vehicles? When I was a teen my first car was a Chevy Scooter (Chevette) and in the back window there was a sticker that said, "she's only rick n' roll." So, the car affectionately became "rock n' roll." I had a 1976 Plymouth Grand Fury that became known as the "Green Iceberg" due to its large size and green paint. Those are the only two vehicles I've ever named.

To this day I have not named the Mustang. I feel a vehicle names itself and unfortunately, the Mustang has never told me what it is. I've been calling it the "Stang" so in a way, maybe I did name it. Although it's not a unique name, it is definately a Stang!

Well, the ACM bike has named itself over the last few days. My learning curve has been steep with this bad boy and it has earned the name "Psycho Bob"- short for it's given name, Psychedelic Rigid Bobber. It fits because the bike it a radical ride and today is the first day I've felt comfortable riding on it. So, Psycho Bob it is!

I lost a bet...

Sunday, June 20, 2010 Posted by Zyon

Well, I would have if I was in Lisa's head. I'm sure she thought, "he'll be using his Mustang blog to talk about his new bike." Well, yah, I will but I don't feel like getting a new URL so I'm going to just talk about the bike here. I doubt there will be much talk since I have no plans of doing any modifications whereas, I still have a lot to do to the Mustang.

During the first of July I'll be pulling the clutch, flywheel and transmission to upgrade to a stage 2 system. I still have a line lock kit to install and I have a nitrous kit to install. After that, I'll be holding off for a while to pay down bills. After all, I have a car and a bike to pay off right now and I'm feeling the pinch to get everything paid down as quick as possible.
