I found this on one of my many drool sessions on Evilbay. It's the Nemesis Mustang made by Nemesis Motorsports. I have to say that those deep dish rims tucked inside of those wheel wells are simply one of the coolest things I've ever seen on a Mustang. If I had 75K I'd have this sitting in my garage.
After getting the limited differential for my birthday I figured it was time to get everything else to go with it. If you check out he recent updated on the “cost of horsepower” page you’ll see everything I purchased. I’m going with Motive 4:10 gears and I got a bearing rebuild kit for good measure. I’ll top off the rear end with some Royal Purple lube.
I also picked up a shorty antenna because mine is bent and like a mile and a half long. I’ve never used the radio in the car so having a shorty is no big deal for me.
Since it is my birthday and all I picked up one of those push button starters that goes in the lighter location. It may be a while before I install that but I got a good price for it.
To top everything off, I grabbed a Hurst line lock, install kit and a Hurst Shifter ball with a switch on it. I want to install it at the same time as I install the rear end.
I'm not one for jewelry but there are times in my current profession where I need to dress up and play the part of business man. So, I went out and got a watch that will represent! Yes, I picked up this flaming Mustang wrist watch. I haven't had an opportunity to wear it yet but I''m sure I'll turn a few heads with it. Too bad i can;t hook up a Magnaflow exhaust with it!
I asked Lisa (my better half) if she wanted a woman's version of it since she likes the Mustang. I guess as much as she loves the car she isn't into sporting sport jewelry. She promptly let me know that she's more into this type of womens jewelry.
I’ve decided on the wheels I’m going to get for my car. I’ve always loved the vintage look of these wheels and I think they will look great on the Mustang. I’m opting for the American Racing TTO VN 309 in 17” rims. I’ve currently got 16” Carol Shelby wheels (I believe they are knock offs.) They look good but I like the black on satin look of the ARs. I threw together a mock up of what the car will look like. The colors are a bit off but it’s close.
The doors…killer and they will happen someday! For around $1500.00 I think lambo doors are a must have for that custom Mustang look. Obviously they don’t create horsepower so it will be a while but hey, a boy can dream can’t he?
I’m sure many people will laugh and say they are stupid but it’s in the eye of the beholder. It was in the 60’s when builders were experimenting with new ideas like suicide doors or lambo doors. It’s not tops on my list of things to do but I’m looking to keep the boy appearance looking pretty stock and 60’s looking so having something like lambo doors will allow me give it some pizzazz!
I love the Cervini concept hood for the Mustang but I promised myself that I was going to keep this build old school and do nothing to the car that doesn’t create horsepower or torque. So, the hood was out until after everything power wise has been done. Well, Cervini’s got my back big time because they’ve added a functioning ram air kit for the concept hood that will give me added horsepower! After all, what is the point of having a great looking car that looks like it can perform when there is nothing to back up the glitz?
Now I know this might not be the most affective use of dollars per horsepower gain but in the 60’s when building muscle cars was at its peak, everyone had a cowl hood or a ram air hood and if they didn’t they surely wanted one so having ram air on this Mustang will look at home and will help me keep the old school look I’m going for.
I’m also loving the fact that I can get the hood painted by Cervini. This is a newer service that they are offering and when I order my hood I’ll be taking them up on it since this is the only piece of the body that’s being replaced.
My wife asked me to pick up a few Magformers for the kids and I came across the Magformers XL series. It’s a cool kit where you can make cars. I have a friend at work that told me that his kid made a car out of there kit and lit resembled a mustang. So, you know what kit I bought for them! I wish I had kids like this when I was a kid. All I had was Lincoln logs! Not going to be able to build a 68 fastback with a box of those now am I!
I’ve been looking for a legend lime Mustang T-Shirt. I found a Legend lime Registry Gallery on Zazzle but their shirts don’t impress me. I think I might just snap some good photos of my Mustang and make up a few shirts for myself. I’d also like to make up some Mustang baby clothes for my kids so they can support the awesomeness of all that is legend lime! Yah, seriously, I’m really that addicted!
I’m starting to rethink this stealth idea. I’ve been doing some looking and I came across the Cervini Mustang concept hood and I have to say that this is one of the coolest hoods I’ve seen and it bolts onto the stock hardware. My only concern is finding someone capable of color matching the hood to the car. I like this hood because it adds a little depth to the hood, reduces the weight and it’s not overly gaudy. Wait…hoods don’t create horsepower!
Since I’m saving (or trying to save) for my exhaust and air intake upgrades I’ve promised myself that I’d put off the esthetic upgrades until I see the exhaust and air intake bolted on. After all, accessories don’t create horsepower and color matching calipers absolutely will do nothing to add horse power. Well, Father’s day is coming up and I know Lisa won’t buy me the exhaust or the air intake so I thought I’d pass on the link to this high performance legend lime caliber paint kit. It seems like a nice weekend job and will serve as a good starting point for some of the minor esthetic upgrades I would like to do. I plan on keeping the outside fairly stock looking so when I pull up to the line no one is expecting it!
For those of you folks out there they have a love affair with your cars, do you ever get tired of stepping on the gas? Do you get tired of going out to the garage and stairing at it? Do you ever get tired of washing it? Well, I have a chair in the garage so I can just sit out there and stare at my Mustang. I get it out of the garage just to go 1/8th of a mile to the store and I drove it on wet roads today and it’s bugging the hell out of me that I didn’t wash it! Yah, I know I’m obsessive. I wonder how bad it will be when it’s completed!
I was doing some research on the history of the Mustang and its body styling when I came across a picture of the 1969 Mustang Fastback. I was really taken back when I compared it to my 2006. They really nailed the look and feel of the ’69 Mustang. The 2006 model does look a little fatter but the newer “retro” look really suits the “muscle car” mantra. My friend was arguing with me about the 2006 being modeled after the 1968 Mustang. However, I win this one. It’s truly modeled after the ’69. I grew up being a Mopar addict and my dream car has always been an early 70’s 442 Olds but my love affair with the Mustang is really reaching a new level and by the time I’m done with this car the 442 olds dream will be in my rear view mirror.
Photo: I got the picture off the Edmonds website. You have to love the epic "running girl" shot!
